Hi everyone.
This little page is about my Bird Song Appreciation Club. This is a little club that travels either the North Island or the South Island once a year in January checking out various bird song of many different varieties of birds both native and visiting. The roads and tracks to some these vanatge points can be long and hard with rivers, mud bogs, mountain ranges and other access difficulties to manouver. That is why it is essential that Club members and their guests travel in a reasonably well equipped 4WD vehicle.
In January 2013 we are going to the South Island to focus on the famous Skylark, often heard but hard to see.
In January 2013 the major club outing will be to some of the South Island areas known for the elusive sky larks and will be from Sunday January 6th to Saturday 19th January. If you'd like to join us email me here for the details and costs.
The skylark birdsong areas we will be visiting over that time will be, the West Coast, McKenzie Country, Central and South Otago and Southland.
The 2012 club outing was to the Bay of Plenty and the Kaiangaroa Forest targeting the songs of the often elusive fantail. Everyone had a great time and were rewarded with the small tweetings of the appealing little bird. Check out the pics of that great trip by clicking on the link above.
It would be great to have you along on the 2013 adventure. Binoculars are optional.
regards
Bill.
