Now here's a rare find, the first Pacific truck to be imported by NZ Forest Products in the 60's. This is a huge machine for its time and it ran on its own road made especially for it in the Kaiangaroa Forest. We talk to its owner Barry Caulfield and we actually have the opporunity of seeing it on the road. This is an awesome truck!
Here's my Uncle's Harry's Leyland from Minganui Transport back in the day hauling native out somewhere in the Ureweras.
Harry will be with us as we head through the series talking about his experiences.
This beautifully restored Commer is owned by the Erskine Family Trust. It can be seen from time to time around the streets of Auckland used as a mobile billboard. The history of the truck is quite interesting as well and she certainly worked hard. We'll be talking to Mark Erskine her driver during the series as well as some other old truckies who spent time with the Commers.
Lachie Griffen used to own Governors Bay Transport working the steep Banks Peninsular.
He was one of the pioneers in NZ trucking by introducing the trailer system - We talk to Lachie about the things he had to do the get the job done, and some of his innovative ideas. This is his 1953 Leyland Comet - 90 horse power...wow! That was huge back in the day. It is awaiting restoration in Lachie's shed at the moment.
Welcome to the new "Talking Trucks" TV show page. We're currently working on a new TV series comparing the trucks of the 40's 50's and 60's with the modern day fleet. We'll be talking to the people who drove the old trucks and the people driving the new ones. It all begins on Friday 15th May at 8.30pm on Cue TV channel 110 on Sky and channel 23 on Freeview. Check out the comment and pics below (we'll be updating things as they come to hand) as we put together a very interesting and entertaining show.

We have finished filming a modern logging operation through Toll Kaitaia and were able to see the logging site's operation including the machine that actually cuts down the tress and trims them all in one smooth movement. Harry Wills chatted with the logging driver about the modern logging truck.
We spent time with a modern bobby calf collection with Toll United in Whangarei and that certainly brought back the memories for me from when I did the same job in 1965 with Prescotts Transport in Tairua. Boy! things certainly have changed.
